Performers: Sneakers
Sneakers began in the late 1990’s as a classic Rock ‘n’ Roll band playing the SLV dance halls and clubs with a variety of music that has kept their fans rockin’ and boppin’ to the present day. This band changed personnel over the years, but never fails to satisfy.
Presently, Sneakers consists of Rob Bosdorf, George Egbert, and Roger Dawson, all long-time SLV residents. Known simply as “Robear” to his friends, Rob leads the group on guitar and vocals. Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, Robear brings that southern warmth and authenticity that the music just can’t do without. George and Ro have played in several groups together beginning in the late 1970’s. George’s drum style carries elements of jazzy percussion in addition to laying down that undeniable dance beat. Roger, George, and Robear played together in Alamosa’s once premier country band, Tumbleweed. Roger’s incomparable bass guitar work fills out the sound with that big, dynamic bottom end, giving all their music a place to live. His vocals and love of blues and rock fit beautifully in the mix, with a touch of reggae to boot.
Other SLV players associated with the group include Ron Ueckert on bass and vocals, Jerry Bounds on guitar and vocals, John Rawinski on drums, Scott Russell on guitar and vocals, Mike Noonan on bass, and the late Duke Arnold on drums, real “Sneakers,” one and all.
